Prep Time: 10 minutes. Chill Time: 30 minutes in freezer + at least 1 hour in fridge (can be longer)

Total Time: About 1 hour 40 minutes

Recipe adapted from Sister Thompson

Equipment:

  • Mixing bowls

  • Whisk

  • Spoon or rubber spatula

  • Plastic wrap or airtight container

  • Baking sheet or plate

  • Measuring cups

  • Cheese grater

Ingredients:

For the Dressing Mix:

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise

  • 1 packet Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing Mix

  • 1/2 cup milk

For the Cheese Ball:

  • 1/2 cup prepared ranch dressing (from above)

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened

  • 8 oz sharp cheddar cheese, shredded

  • 5 oz sliced almonds (for coating)

Directions:

  1. Make the Dressing: In a small bowl, whisk together the mayo, ranch packet, and milk until smooth. You’ll only need 1/2 cup for the cheese ball — save the rest for salads or dipping!

  2. Mix the Cheese Ball Base: In a medium bowl, combine 1/2 cup of the prepared ranch dressing, softened cream cheese, and shredded cheddar. Mix until everything is evenly blended.

  3. Chill: Cover the mixture and freeze for about 30 minutes to firm it up for shaping.

  4. Shape and Roll: Once chilled, form the mixture into a ball. Roll the cheese ball in sliced almonds until fully coated.

  5. Refrigerate: Place the finished cheese ball in the fridge until ready to serve. The flavors get even better as it chills!

Wrap in plastic wrap or store in an airtight container for up to 5 days in the refrigerator.
